Sat 3-27- Priest....

The lake continues to be tough for me. I launched at Hurricane Creek, mid-lake. headed uplake about 3 miles to fish some spawning coves, and staging ares with moving baits. had one small fish on a crankbait early, but with the clear skies, the fish didn't seem interested in chasing.

I regrouped, and headed back towards the lower end, and I decided to slow down and move out a bit. I hooked a 3 lb smallmouth on a grub just inside a large cove near LHSP in about 6 ft. Unfortunately, the fish jumped and threw my grub back at me. I worked my way back in the cove, but there was nothing doing.

I worked back to the point and around the corner on a main lake flat heading back down lake. I picked up the C-rig, and moved the boat out to 10-2 ft. On the third cast, I hooked a good 3 lb largemouth. I stayed in the area and caught a 2 lb smallie and broke off one more. That was it for that spot.

I jumped across the lake to the end of a bluff wall where the bank transitioned to gravle / mud and scattered rock. this is where I caught the 4 1/2 lb smallie two weeks before. I picked up the jerkbait and worked the bait in 3-9 ft. I caught a noce 12" Spot, but no more takers.

From there, I headed under the bridge to check several shallow spots and a few deeper transition points. It was a waste of time.

Moved around near Four Corners for another hour or so, but the wind got so bad that it was nearly impossible to fish slowly. Loaded the Bee up, and I was home by 2 pm.

Water temps ranged from 47-51 degrees all day. The fish are still not ready to move up on the spawning flats in any numbers, so i continue to struggle. In hindsight, I have spent way too much time downlake the last few weeks. I probably should have joined the crowds in the warmer upper end.

Live and learn.

Later,

RBK

Thought you were going to be at Center Hill. I didn't go at all. Plan to go to the Hill Tuesday or Wed.

Priest is just being tough.
